There’s a couple reasons why “Midnight” is one of my favorite Doctor Who episodes.
It shows how humans react when panicked. We don’t tend to think rationally when were are scared. We are will go to extremes to promote our own selfish survival, even though you would not act that way in real life. We think we know all the answers in the small amount of information we’ve gathered, when in fact, we don’t.
The stereotypical professor. He believes he’s an expert on everything, but he refuses to accept that something is attacking the ship because he doesn’t understand what “it” is, a problem with very many things today. If we can’t see “it” or understand “it”, then “it” is not real and does not exist. I really don’t like that closed minded thinking like that.
The Doctor actually shows he is afraid. That is a rare thing, seeing the Doctor scared. For once, he doesn’t have the answer or any authority and that terrifies him. It makes him relatable. Even the clever Doctor gets scared. It shows that nobody is perfect and calm all the time, including a Timelord.
Lastly, it proves that you don’t need a big budget set and effects to make a good episode. All you need are incredible actors and a great script. The acting in this episode is amazing. I can’t fathom how hard it must have been to get two actors the say the same exact line at the same time with same pitch and facial expression.
All in all, it’s great episode and I absolutely love it, along with David Tennant as Ten.

THIS.

Fun fact; this was actually the first episode of Doctor Who I ever watched. I was very confused, but I liked it.

Also: No one ever warns you about how scary it is, so you can be properly terrified by it.
